The new album Light it Up from the Kris Barras Band is released today; the eagerly anticipated follow-up from the much accredited debut release The Divine and Dirty.
And, it is a marvel to behold. It’s blues with a country twang and offerings don’t get much better from the fine-tuned blues guitarist and singer. It’s full of hit singles that easily stand out on their own, but placed together they make the complete package of an album you want to listen too from start to finish - never skipping, always paying attention and fully engaging.
The opening track What You Get is immediately likeable, putting a smile on your face while getting you moving around to the beat. Vegas Son is a gorgeously crafted track with its catchy chorus and the distinctive vocals of Kris. Ignite (Light It Up) is simply a great track, delivered with gusto that would grace any radio station and any music collection.
The pace does slow a little for Rain and this wonderful song would be at home on any stage from the local club through to The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, quite frrankly.
Rock, blues and country blended together to deliver an outstanding album. In a world of listeners who habitually skip from song to song, the Kris Barras Band are bringing a full set of catchy, foot tapping, classy songs that will keep you fully engaged for the duration. A unique ability in today’s world, so for that simple reason this is a must have.
