Piston - The Station Cannock, 13/09/19
Words by Adrian Ball
The Station is a gem of a venue in Cannock, combining an old-school rock feel that takes you back to the late 80’s. The scene is set for an album launch gig for Piston in their home town.
First up is the opening act Paper Castles who deliver a short, sharp set of their infectious indie / punk blend, including an excellent cover of the B52s Love Shack.
Call to the Faithful are the second support for the night and deliver a great set to the appreciative crowd.
The night however belongs to Piston and the crowd draws closer to the stage in anticipation of the rock ‘n’ roll show that is about to explode. The band make their entrance to plenty of clapping and wolf whistles as they deliver a tight, entertaining, high voltage set. There is tunes galore from their self-titled album, including the gloriously catchy Rainmaker which gets the whole crowd involved. The latest single Blow it Away is going down a storm and with these fabulous songs are testament that good things are to follow.
It’s a great sight to behold a band on the rise performing to a happy and fully engaged, appreciative crowd of dedicated fans. A wonderful night of rock.
