Gin Annie - 'New Bad Habit'

Words by Charles Patterson

Since 2013, Gin Annie have been captivating rock lovers in the Black Country with energetic covers, performing an astounding 50 to 60 gigs a year. Now they’re recording originals with the video premier for Damage Is Done attracting 200 views and selling out headline gigs to 700 strong crowds at the likes of Bilston’s Robin 2.

The release of debut EP New Bad Habit is sure to grow their fan base further; A collection of three, which opens with the title track that’s a tale of lust where lead vocalist David Foster tells of a girl who’s the best he’s ever had. A tune with some catchy lyrics that will have you singing along from the very first listen, this is going to become a fan favourite.

All I Want could almost be a sequel to the opening story of infatuation and desperation to hold onto the girl, as this track spells out the consequences of those actions with lyrics like “You’re dragging me under, I can’t breathe”.

The third and final track is the perfect definition of Gin Annie, Born To Rock And Roll. It’s another guitar-driven song with infectious hooks and singalong choruses which secures the band’s place as one of British rock’s up-and-coming elite.

Gin Annie are a band with a big reputation already and this EP has done that no harm. Despite this being their debut release, they are musically mature beyond their experiences and will be performing at some larger venues in the UK later this year. They’re definitely a band to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.
