Now that blues-rock is the cool kid in town, everyone wants a piece of that sauced up rhythm.
To satisfy that craving, The Kendall Connection are offering a juicy slice of powerful melodies, dripping with delicious boogie jams in the shape of their debut self-titled EP.
The band, formed by Nick Kendall in 2016, have honed in on their influences who they describe asRobben Ford, Brad Paisley, Mike Stern and Don Henley, meets Pink Floyd, Tedeschi Trucks, Bonamassa and Stevie Ray Vaughan and done them justice.
Sparking interest is the sincere vocal style that exudes the type of honesty reserved for porch front warblers from the delta who have a story to tell. The hard work of these guys is sonically injected into your brain as you listen. Sharp guitar work, tightly connected rhythms and pitch perfect vocals.
In this musical pick ‘n’ mix you get blues, rock, funk and soul mixed with thought provoking lyrics. What could be better? Other than adding a bottle of merlot to ponder over the album with.
Heart of the City is a song made for summer with it’s light-hearted groove and care-free vibes. Things get slow and serious with Come Home; the beautiful acoustic track that excels in the ‘twiddly’ skills department and perfectly complements the intelligent lyrical ability. It’s almost too perfect.
Hello My Old Friend is raw blues style, simmering with heartache and tears. Nick’s vocal is subtle which adds an endearing quality and keeps it modern.
Respect-worthy riffs, low and slow but not afraid to vamp up the power when needed. The E.P has all of the elements of any reputable blues-rock release - you’ll start to think these guys are just showing off. Crafted musicianship, knowledge and passion for the genre, respect for each other and a pure love of creating their music.
It has an ageless quality and blends genres so seamlessly, it’s something for everyone. Put it on to tune in and chill out or blast it when you need a blues-rock blowout, especially Wood on the Fire.
The best part is it gets you excited to see more of what they have to offer. Which is hopefully not too far away.
