The Dead Daises - The Slade Rooms Wolverhampton, 26/07/16

If proof is still needed that rock and roll is alive and well, then doubters obviously weren’t at the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton tonight. It’s midweek and the venue is packed. 500 sweaty rock fans (the air con may need a re-tune, FYI) are eagerly gathered to witness a colossal collection of accomplished veterans in the guise of The Dead Daisies, preceded by a short but extremely sweet set from the glorious, Inglorious.
The boys, fresh from Ramblin’ Man Fair at the weekend, heated things up (no pun intended) with a punch-packed taste of their debut self-titled album, to a crowd of already honed fans and newbies alike. They went down a storm, needless to say as this band are the perfect jelly to the Dead Daisies ice-cream. Fully fuelled and raring to go, the energy in the room is palpable during the fifteen minute wait for the headliners.

Out they come to an echo of screams of appreciation, looking every bit the gaggle of rock stars they are. Enough swag to dominate the room from the drum kit to the back door exit. The mood is set with ease and nothing but a sea of shining, smiling faces can be seen, despite the uncomfortable temp. The twenty vats of Jack Daniels the bar has seen off tonight helps, but it’s this bands’ ability to disperse joy through their style, stories and music that holds this crowd.

Planet Rock’s playlist favourite ‘Something I Said’ is an instant hit, with everyone singing along, as is their first, Slash co-written single ‘Lock ‘n’ Load’ and the brand new ‘Make Some Noise’.

A few covers are thrown in, including Free’s Alright Now’ and ‘Hush’ by Joe South (or Deep Purple, depending on your preference.) Just imagine the experiences these guys have had individually. Certainly enough to fill months worth of story telling around a jar of brown M&M's.

Like a well-oiled machine, they’re churning out one great song after the next. They know what they’re doing, know what works and know how to do it well. Their combined zest for life is showing through their performance; having fun and enjoying yourself is all part of the package. And these guys certainly know how to host a party.
