‘Find it, f**k it, throw it away, ain’t got no time for you’ sing Pilgrim on their self-titled debut EP. This South Wales four-some hark back to the sounds of British rock legends such as Sabbath and Zeppelin, but do they have what it takes to follow in such large footsteps?
Formed in 2015, Pilgrim have got a solid set up. The music is slick and well balanced with strong vocal performances from lead singer David Corfield and screaming guitar courtesy of Adam Healey.
These guys really know how to open a track, beginning with demanding riffs that pull you in and then leave you at the mercy of the pounding bass and drums. The solos, of which there are several, really show that they definitely have the talent to take them far.
‘Be Done’ is a fast-paced, stand out track that gets the blood pumping. You’ll be humming this track all afternoon with its melodic chorus.
The EP is a solid start for the band. Don’t be tempted to dismiss them as more of the same old story here as there’s a lot of potential if they continue in this vain. They could make something great even greater.
Here’s hoping that Pilgrim can bring more of the same to the table. Make some time to give this new band the listen they deserve.
