Gone Savage - 'Savaged Through The Ages'

Gone Savage are a Manchester based rock band who want to share their upcoming summer EP release, with the acting title 'Savaged Through The Ages' with the world.

Like a platter of delights, they were formed from ex-members of notable acts Dare, Sam Thunder and Sweet Sin, so they're not short of experience.

The band say they're proud to count member of Evanescence, Mr. Big and Journey as active followers, so can people who know what they're talking about when it comes to music be wrong?

'If It feels Good Do It' they say. The energy of that statement is brought with this track, for sure. Just turn down the volume before pressing play as it doesn't hang around getting going. It has a pumping heartbeat, youthful vocals and an overly enthusiastic vibe.

This feel good is brought down a peg with the impending, sinister horror movie 'toy-box' twinkles, knife scraping sound effects and echoing vocals speaking of murder that leads track two. 'When The Circus Comes To town' could be the Gone Savage spectacle Alice cooper style when played live. All this preps you for the brewing heavy burst of guitar and heavier vocals too, showing their harder side.

Next, the wind blows and the church bells chime with an overlay of acoustic strums. 'Soul Sister' is distinctively Mr.Big-esque, no wonder they're fans. Simply melodic vocals and soft guitar are stopped in their tracks when the drums hammer an introduction for the rest of the electrics. Slow-pace happily plods along, while being a powerful and emotive message of friendship, love, comfort and soul connections.

'Love Caught me Out' is on the other side of the spectrum; back up to 80mph and 11 on the volume dial. This has '80's hair metal written all over it with juicy riffage (yes, that's '80's hair metal speak), fret-on-fire twiddling, ever present harmonies and melancholic lyrics of lost love. A nice round-up to this EP. Rock fans, rejoice.
