Album review : Gin Annie - ‘Undivided’

Words by Alaina Henderson

Black Country rockers Gin Annie are back with their new album Undivided, released on 12th May 2023.

From the offset, opener Not Gonna Take It is a mix of well-crafted, solid vocal, polished guitar and relentless rhythm with meaning. Listening to this quite early in the morning, it’s like a much-needed shot of caffeine.

This really sets the precedence for the whole album. Moving through the tracks, Rain and Before are melodic and catchy if not a little more tame, before things notch back up again with that signature persistent pace in Perfect Nightmare. It has a classic sound with the model blend of mellifluous vocals with heavy, crunching guitars.

There are some softer moments, like Sand and a cover of Seal’s Crazy which are further testament to the diversity capable of a band that knows what it’s doing. Someday wouldn’t be out of place being belted out by a stadium crowd of thousands.

The band has come a long way in the past few years and here they are with a well-rounded, perfect package of songs, created to please any modern rock fan (or otherwise).

This album gets you revved up to see the band perform the songs live, which is handy as they are on tour during May – dates and tickets can be found here: https://www.ginannie.com
