Dead Writers show their most introspective side with a live version of their latest single ‘Among Spirits’, the majestic post-punk/rock anthem that earned them excellent reviews recently. The ethereal new video ‘Among Spirits | A Piano Prayer’ was filmed live in the awe-inspiring chapel of The Royal Foundation of St Katharine in London. It features lead singer/songwriter Paul Shine solo at the piano.
The church altar is transformed into a Romantic poet’s sanctuary, adorned with candles, burning incense, rose petals and a Shakespearean skull. In this haunting setting, Shine’s performance creates an atmosphere of crepuscular intimacy, hooking us with his poetic soliloquy on the personal journey that ensues after the trials of separation. As the song rolls on, his voice grows in intensity, soaring in the choruses and resonating brightly in the dome, as if awakening the spirits of the temple. The video is a truly emotional exhibition of the frontman’s powerful voice, sensitive piano playing and melodic craftsmanship.
