Bad Touch release their fourth album Kiss the Sky on June 19th and their signature energetic groove of live performances has been captured and superbly transferred to the recorded media; a difficult exercise to get a hold of, but they have achieved the feel, emotion and power of those live moments.
Described by lead singer Stevie Westwood as their best album yet, it has many aspects from southern rock to country and good old rock ‘n’ roll, it doesn’t move away from the new wave of classic rock that we have all fallen in love with, yet it enhances their style and swagger.
Opener Come a little closer is a full-on rock song, spiced with a country feel. There’s energy emitting from the speakers with an urgent ferocity pointing towards this being a wild ride when played on the next tour. This track among others shows the talent of the whole band with smooth vocals and guitar riffs to be envious of.
The strutting, bluesy feel comes in with I get High; an immediate feel good factor from a memorable chorus and laid back guitar work getting the head nodding and feet tapping. This transports you away to the Mississippi.
Let Go is a gorgeous sing-a-long song that makes you smile and be grateful that such songs exist. A cool driving song to play on full volume with the windows down. The groove reels you in and at just over four minutes is one you don’t want to end.
Strut is a song with a huge feel; a statement in bluesy, southern rock. The vocal delivery is on point and there’s guitar work that screams class and style. A truly enjoyable song that should guarantee lots of airplay and will whip up the crowds’ excitement when live.
Title track Kiss the Sky grabs you by the shoulders from the outset. This groove is seriously funky. Here’s where the band wear their influences on their sleeves as they seemingly pay homage to the classics in similar genres, but this song stands out and is sure to be a future classic of their set.
