A murmur is humming over the crowd as Tax The Heat, the support act to Royal Republic are about to begin here at Manchester Academy 2 tonight.
Hailing from Bristol, they’ve already built up a great live pedigree and are a band on the rise since their formation in 2012. Fed to the Lions is their first full album and sets about showcasing the guys’ outstanding talent for song writing.
Opening with Devil’s Daughter, they set their intentions early by getting a roaring crowd reaction that sets the tone.
Highlights include Animals, Learn to Drown (You’re Wrong), Fed to the Lions andHighway Home, which has everyone showing their appreciation whether via the means of boogie, shaking heads or throwing the horns. This is an electrifying set with stunning vocals and exquisite guitar skills matched with thunderous bass and drums.
After this, it looks like rock ‘n’ roll is alive and well, safe in the hands of Tax The Heat.
Next it’s Royal Republic from Sweden, here in the UK for a short run of just three gigs.
If you didn’t know what to expect from this band, then worry not as they’re bringing their ‘A’ game with some full-on, tightly delivered rock. The band is good at encouraging the crowd to get singing and they were more than happy to oblige;Tommy-Gun, Underwear, Baby and the RR classic Full Steam Spacemachine were all lapped up by the room.
If you get a chance to see them live, don’t miss it as these Swede’s know what they’re doing.
