Inglorious - The Globe Cardiff, 18/06/16

Let’s face it; some bands just have itThe goose bump factor. Watching them live will give a feeling of contentment, happiness and easily make memories. Looking around a very humid Cardiff’s Globe to a sea of smiles, eagerly anticipating hearing the debut album in full from Inglorious is testament to that.

Fresh from their appearance at Download festival to thousands of happy campers, the elation is still etched on the faces of this group of best friends. This is raw rock ‘n’ roll, home-grown and rooted in reality and it’s only getting bigger and better.

A rumbling intro builds excitement from floor to balcony as the boys ramp up the volume and atmosphere and launch straight in. Each track from the self-titled album feels like a classic, with the majority of the crowd singing along. From the sultry slow-burner ‘Bleed for You’ to the painfully passionate, Planet Rock play-listed ‘Unaware’. Nathan James (Lead Vocals) in full rock star attire including a dream catcher necklace (which has obviously made a few come true in this case) tells endearing anecdotes of ‘Holy Water’ being written in his bedroom when he was a teenager. Now it’s being belted out by hundreds of people in all its harmonic glory.

With covers thrown in from Deep Purple, including abeautiful acoustic version of ‘Burn’ (how the hell they make this song their own who knows, but they manage it), it’s the best night out in town for AOR fans.

It’s time to get excited about new music and this band will subdue the doubters. This joyous, sweaty crowd out on a rainy Sunday night know the substance of supporting new acts and keeping rock alive. In the wise words of their frontman, "Rock and roll isn’t dead. Gene Simmons is a dick." So, there you have it.

  1. Great review Alaina. I was at several shows, but not Cardiff. Stunning performances in every respect, and I came away from each gig feeling that I had just experienced something really special. Inglorious are far more than a great band, and they make life for many of us just that little bit better. Thanks guys, and cant wait until we do it all again.
