The future of British rock is here. It’s called Inglorious.
Described as one of the heaviest new rock bands to emerge from the underground UK scene, they have recently caught the attention of Queen’s Brian May, no less. He said: “You guys really do look like a potent young Deep Purple but with a new slant – very classic! The musicianship is stunning. Amazing vocals, by the way.”
Inglorious who are Nathan James (lead vocals), Andreas Eriksson (lead guitar), Wil Taylor (rhythm guitar), Colin Parkinson (bass) and Phil Beaver (drummer) will tour supporting the Winery Dogs early next year, followed by an official album launch show at London’s Islington Assembly on 21st Feb. Ahead of this they played a special showcase at the Gibson Rooms to a crowd of press and industry types, to introduce their self-titled album being released next year.
After an intro from Planet Rock’s Paul Anthony, the anticipation was high and the atmosphere buzzing.
Not shying away from their influences including Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake , Aerosmith and Bad Company, ‘Until I Die’ and their Planet Rock hit ‘Breakaway’ kicked off the night with foundation shaking, smile inducing, power laden rock, full of excitement and energy. These songs are perfectly suited to Nathan’s strong, multi-octave range, blended with stonking bass and Andreas’ skilfully perfect riffs that Joe Bonamassa would be proud to call his own. Not as proud as his on-looking mum though; the beaming smile said it all. They had the small but might crowd in raptures, completely justifying expectations.
Things slowed down with ‘Holy Water’ that’s bluesy and soulful with an anthemic edge. This is some sophisticated song writing that’s dark, sensual and inspiring.
Like a gentle flame waiting to burst, ‘Girl Got a Gun’ is one to watch out for and allowed Nathan to give some crowd interaction. Locking eyes with the first few rows, he shares the intensity and emotion of the track that denotes a story of the femme fatale.
Packed with cultivated creations and well-honed craftsmanship, here is a fresh take on classic rock that’s bound to seduce new listeners while keeping the die-hard rock fans excited.
Refreshingly created with a lead vocalist that can hit the highest, glass-shattering notes without breaking a sweat, the music is nostalgic, emotive, but most of all genuinely passionate. Songs like this aren’t created without a real love for what you are doing, and that’s exactly what these boys have set out to do.
