Vega to release new album ‘Grit Your Teeth’ on 12th June

Words by Adrian Ball
Vega are releasing their latest and sixth studio album Grit Your Teeth on 12th June.

Recorded with the Graves Brothers, who have been recognised as two of the highest regarded metal music producers, the album takes you down a fresh path for the band delivering songs with a harder, heavier edge.  Initially this may sound like a risk for a band with such a great formula with music production, but this is a well-calculated approach and worth the gamble.

The immediate impact of the opening track Blind is a full on, in your face, rock track with a much sharper edge, laying out a path for the rest of the album to follow. It’s heavy on guitars and feels full of attitude; Vega are a band who don’t tip-toe around the heavier delivery and immediately the song draws you in, your head nods and before long you’ll be singing loud and proud and dancing around the room.

The latest song to make the Planet Rock playlist is (I don’t need) Perfection and is such a catchy, sing-a-long track; it has an instant appeal with its slow build up to a chorus that imprints on your brain, connecting you to the song. You can see it getting lots of plays on the radio and going down an absolute storm live with plenty of chance for audience participation.

How We Live is another track worthy of high praise, it has it all. Like the perfect storm it’s a definite nod back to the bands many influences from the 80’s, layers of great sound with angelic keyboards, classy guitars and a raunchy back beat.

The album continues to deliver gems track after track, never skipping a beat, with stunning vocals, great ‘axe’ wielding guitar work, beautiful keyboards and seriously tight bass and drum delivery.
