Daxx & Roxane - ‘Daxx & Roxane’

Swiss rockers Daxx & Roxane have released their self-titled second album, which has had them heralded as ‘the new Def Leppard’ with this instant classic, bringing high energy, power-driven rock with a sometimes melancholic edge.
First single Fast Lane is the band at their best – it’s riffalicious, fast-paced and in-your-face, with a swaggering groove to make Mick Jagger look like he’s acting his age. There are impressively strong vocals that set the track on fire, laid bare on top of a relentless drum attack.
Recent single Heal is desolate in theme, but uplifting in lyrics. You might be tired and faded, but it takes time to heal is the message.  It showcases vocal harmonies, plus the variety this band can produce. The same with all of these tracks, it sits comfortably on the car stereo loud and proud, next to your old classics.
The songs are guitar driven, super slick and attacked with gusto. Like Strange Woman, Get To It and Without You, they’re saucy, playful, about drinking cheap wine and having a good time. Where the  anthemic chanting is thrown in, it literally has all the elements.
There is a strong ‘80’s vibe while giving the impression you’re sat in the recording studio listening to this album being laid down. It’s fun and easy to listen to and gives the vibe this band have a great time together.
Back Door Man brings the blues and Broken is a little slower, concentrating on the melodic sector. Dawn is an interesting instrumental(ish) that mixes tempos and mood.
Sugar Rush finishes the album on a high and it could be their signature. It’s feel-good rock just the right side of heavy, with cheeky lyrics, a belting rhythm and ballsy riffs. If you want to introduce this band to someone, play them this.
