Dead Writers return to the public eye with their third official single ‘She’s All The Animals’, an electrifying track displaying fierce vocals, crisp rock guitars and a mighty chorus hook line with infectious sing-along qualities. Released one year on since its inception, this feline-like song encapsulates perfectly the energy of the band’s live performances, and has become the indisputable highlight at all their shows. The recording features special guest Ben Ellis (Iggy Pop, Swervedriver, Mike Garson) on bass guitar, who contributes to the pulsating drive of the track with a sound full of experience and rock’n’roll attitude.
‘She’s All The Animals’ deals with the emotional complexities of a female character, depicting her impulsive nature through diverse animal imagery, yet revealing human vulnerability behind the shield of her survival instinct. In trademark Dead Writers style, the lyrics contain literary references (Hermann Hesse and Arthur S. J. Tessimond), and offer a different portrayal of the female figure to the one usually seen in traditional rock music. Recorded at Hermitage Works Studios by Margo Broom and mixed/mastered by producer Mark Tucker (PJ Harvey, Jethro Tull, Portishead) at ARC Studios, ‘She’s All The Animals’ opens up an exciting new chapter for this ambitious London outfit, who demonstrate a steady determination to improve themselves at every turn.
